DisneyQuest is an indoor, interactive theme park located inside Downtown Disney in Florida. While at Imagineering, I worked as a designer and game programmer on three attractions for DisneyQuest as well as general research and development for external vendors.
For the projects, our game logic was written in Scheme, running on top of SGI’s OpenGL Performer renderer and ran on high-end SGI graphics computers running Unix.
Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for Buccaneer Gold: A four-player cave experience featuring a physical ship, cannons, helm, and full motion base. Guests battle virtual pirate ships, sea monsters, and Jolly Roger himself. The attraction was the winner of the prestigious Themed Entertainment Association (THEA) Award for Excellence in Themed Entertainment in 2001.
Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride: Using a virtual reality head-mounted display and motorcycle-style input vehicle, guests steer a magic carpet through the streets of Agrabah.
Hercules in the Underworld: A four-player fully immersive wrap around interactive experience where guests assume the role of a character from the Hercules movie and battle Hades and his evil minions.
